Documenting the trials and musings of a young man wholly invested in the decorum of the world, the dress of its people, and why any of it matters in the first place. As fashions come and go, we hope the driving pulse stays the same. Realities change and confuse, while the soul holds the truth.

a lot.
Parent was the aunt of a friend of mine who works as a costume designer in the northwest. I've just learned about her interesting lineage and am eager to learn more. From her fb page, she writes:
Uncle Jean Benoit is a Surrealist artiste living in Paris since 1948, the same year he married Mimi Parent, also a Surrealist artist. Both came from large Catholic French Canadian families. They lived and worked together for 57 years, in the same 5th floor walk-up studio apartment in East Paris.
Intelligent and rebellious from the start, They met André Breton in 1959 and participated in Surrealist activities. Non-conformists, vivacious, and with a wicked sense of humor, both Mimi and Jean’s passion for life and art inspired everything and everyone they touched.
Mimi died 14 June 2005 in Switzerland. Jean has not been the same since. Paralyzed from a stroke in the spring of this year, but still smoking and drinking, he keeps her ashes under a pot of flowers on the table and talks about death.
Heaven.
